Company Mission

Cicada’s mission is to be the worldwide leader in the design, development, and manufacturing of highly integrated, DSP-based, digital communications integrated circuits (ICs).

Through the application of its advanced Digital Signal Processing and System-on-Chip design technologies, Cicada enables equipment suppliers to deliver on the promise of affordable, Universal Gigabit^TM connectivity throughout Local (LAN), Wide (WAN), and Storage / Server Area (SAN) networks.

History & Funding

The company is located in Austin, Texas and was founded in February 1996 as an IC design consulting and intellectual property (“IP”) developer. In July 1998, Cicada received its first round of equity financing, enabling it to transition from IP development and licensing to full semiconductor product development.
